OE Paste from Word problem

I've just bought and installed the Online Editor (2.0 on eZ 3.5).

The problem is that when I paste from MS Word or OOo Writer the editor parses the text and erase EVERYTHING.

Same behaviour with text copied from browsers (FireFox and Explorer).

I remember having tested the OE in the online demo at ez.no some months ago and I could paste almost anything.

Are there some settings that I have to change?

What's the problem?

Thanks

Valerio

Hi,

There is no settings need to be changed.
Could you do some more test by editing different content object and past different content from word?
What warning message did you get when you save the draft? Copy from word should work fine.

Wenyue

Hi Wenyue,

I've just tried to paste a simple Word document (it contains only normal and italic text) to the OE in the demo site at ez.no (Article class).

Everything has been deleted. Only the <emphasize> tags remain, but empty (no content between them).

See the error message below:

The draft was only partially stored.

Wenyue,

You can see my test in the demo site on ez.no.

It's entitled "Test article"

Hi,

I have tested on ez.no as well, and it works fine.
I guess the problem might related to http://ez.no/community/forum/install_configuration/online_editor_blinking_problems/#msg83747
and you will find a suggested sulotion. This problem will happen for some winxp, but not all. Could you try to change css files in your local installations and test again? Or you may find another computer to test?

Wenyue

Wenyue,

I have the same problem with OE:

in firefox: copy/paste from MsWord almost always looses all content, sometimes not even a warning about unsupportted tags.

when the same text is copy/pasted in IE, the OE works fine after a warning about unsupported tags.

Wenyue, I don't think it's related to this problem. This was the problem I sent you an email about a couple of months ago. We also got this list of unsupported tags when publishing content, but if we publish one more time, the content is stored (after removing these "unknown" tags I guess..and sometimes content).

We got this problem after the latest upgrade as mentioned, so I think some stuff is changed in the latest OE version.

I just copied some clean text from Mozilla Thunderbird(from an email), and when publishing the message, the "warning" I got was:

Tag '!--startfragment' not supported (removed). Tag 'font' not supported (removed). Tag '!--startfragment' not supported (removed). Tag 'font' not supported (removed). Tag '!--startfragment' not supported (removed). Tag 'font' not supported (removed).

Should the OE operate this way?
Maybe a more userfriendly way to do this when it comes to removing font-tags would be just to remove these and not give this warning. Other more important tags is good that the OE gives a warning when removing.

Well pasting text from word to the internet often cause problems.
The reason this happens is that MS word uses another style for sign like "-

With ms word formatting
Dette er en &#8220;test&#8221; for å se -hvordan dette går?

With normal formatting
Dette er en "test" for å se -hvordan dette går?

IN OO 1.1.3
Dette er en "test" for å se -hvordan dette går?

I have just purchase OE and I have Mozilla 1.0.4 and I cannot past text from a Word Doc.

I go to save it and it gives me similiar errors as in the above reply. And then the xml text box has a couple of Anchor Icons and a bunch of P tags everything is missing...

Can someone explain this to me when all of your files in the install say that firefox/mozilla are supported.

Allo!

There is a thread (a little negative) but it does talk in detail about this problem.

<i>http://www.ez.no/community/forum/general/oe_does_it_work_for_you</i>

If your looking for more information on this subject from others in the larger vendor/product generic perspective, the malling list cms-list talked in detail on this topic.

<i>http://archivist.incutio.com/viewlist/cms-list/1988</i>

It identified at least one (non-free) solution to the situation called WordCleaner. There is also a gratis (zero cost) limited trial version available.

<i>http://www.zapadoo.com/wordcleaner/index.htm
http://www.zapadoo.com/wordcleaner/download_free_trial.htm</i>

It appears that the wordmatch.ini file included with the online editor was designed to help with these problems but I can not find any documentation on it. Anyone know about this file and it's potential use?
