Hi,

After having run a more or less smooth installation (using the setup guide, installing locally at my Win2000 machine running phpdev4_2_3), I'm neither able to view the demo site, nor to log into the admin area. When I try to view the site, I get the following error:

Error / kernel (1)

Access denied
You don't have permission to access this area.

And when I try to log into the admin interface using admin/publish, I'm told that:

Could not login
A valid username and password is required to login.

Am I missing something her? Thanks in advance !

Sincerely,

Sound like missing data OR a problem with a connection to the DB.
Did you install the demo data?
Do you see something at the user site?

I get the same message on both the demo and the user sites:

Access denied
You don't have permission to access this area.

Any ideas?

[quotet]a problem with a connection to the DB.[/quote]

Thanks for the tip. When I opened the siti.ini.php file, I noticed that it was pointing to the wrong database (don't know why, though). After having set it straight manually, it's now up and running.

Yahoo! (not the index)

I am experiencing the same problem. However, both site.ini and site.ini.php are pointing to the correct database, which I can easily connect to via commandline. Moreover, the ezpublish setup also connected to the database without any problems.

Could be a permission problem of the server and not necessarily of MySql.
