Fecthing equivalent of DISTINCT or UNIQUE

I was curious if there was an equivalent of an SQL DISTINCT or UNIQUE clause for an object attribute.

Eg. if you have an ezstring attribute of Cities, it would be useful to fetch only unique cities to build a dropdown menu or something.
