How to merge two separated translation files ?

The first one is a common file, the second one is unique for each separated site. Some translations from common file may have been rewriten in the site file. I thought transform each ts file in simplexml, then merge them, then write a new ts file. Is this a good idea or does it exists a better way ? Hi,
