Import/Export-Script for Updating from 2 to 3.... any Experiences?

I'd like to read about experiences with these scripts. Where do they work, where not? We have 5000 users, >1500 articles and >1000 files to migrate, some articles having HTML in them... How are my chances? ;) In particular: 1. I don't have command-line PHP (just apache module). Can I run the scripts through my browser? 2. What about the HTML? I didn't understand the readme instructions... something about fixing a template??? 3. What about forums?
