Creating a new datatype

Hello,

I want to create a new datatype, which would be a simplified version of ezauthor (one input box where you put a text, and you can add new inputs when editing).

what should i do? create a new extension ? or is there an other way ?

Look on this tutorial:

New custom datatypes are stored in the extension.
