Documentation about the 'search' available?

I'd like to get to know 'as much as possible' on how the search works. Of course, I can try to figure it all out by myself, but I was hoping there was some kind of documentation available that would explain a lot to me.

Couldn't find any useful info on the site.

Sooo, are there any documents about the search (normal AND advanced search)? Or at least, will there be? (the documentation area is under heavy construction)
