ezurl to ezroot has strange effects

In in attempt to get nicer urls, I've done the ezurl to ezroot swap in templates, as documented on many places on this site. However, after having done that, all my external links become pointers to my own site. Obviously I've made some elementary mistake somewhere, but what? Anyone ever seen this?

ezroot and ezurl will create links to your eZ publish site.
Pleas see : http://ez.no/ez_publish/documentation/reference/template_operators/urls for information on how the url operators work.

If it still does not work, please specify your problems here.
