Hi,

Just came to my mind that has someone ever made integration with any ie. messageboard programs?

By my clients order, I should make ez site with phpBB inside it with only one user/login handling... :)

I was thinking that maybe a somekind of "Integrator"-module" should be done... I have started to write (or actually scetch) a module for this. But if you could share your ideas about this, it would be great.

Now that 3.2 supports modifying the login process, this sounds possible to do...

If this integration thingie is going to work, I will publish it and do some support for other products also...

Regards,
Jerry

Ez3.2 supports ldap which should take you most of the way i would think... Have you considered trying it out :)

Hi Paul,

Haven't yet had time to check out the ldap functionality, but thanks for your suggestion...

I'm right now in the middle of making the Integrator module... If this thing works, it's gonna be extendable for almoust any other script... :) (Hopefully)

But, back to work... ;)

Thanks,
Jerry

Jerry,

Do you customize ezPublish 3.2 for people?

Hi Sam,

I don't really "customize" eZ for anyone else than my clients...
And By customizing I mean building modules etc... I don't wan't to touch any other code than mine... ;)

This Integrator module is coming up quite good... Few things have still been unsolved, but I will ask these in another topic (eZ Kernel related problem)...

After this beta is ready, gonna cleanup the code, make the ini support, and after a while (hopefully) release it to contributions...

Thanks,
Jerry

Jerry

I managed to do user integration almoust perfectly, (It's still under construction) I've had problems with handling the phpbb's login cookies but will continue on that when I have time again.

Right now the system keeps information about users updated between ez and phpbb.
The system is designed to enable many 3rd party progs to be integrated to eZ (Mostly user handling and logins).
I hope I can finish it without doing any changes in the standard codes, but I'm afraid I have to change some things in phpBB for the login to work.

I'll try to keep you informed more about the success...

Right now I have to build some other module which takes all my time.
By the way, Has someone done any kind of "Company record storage system" with eZ?

Thanks,
Jerry

Hi,

I works now. It's not propably the best solution, but it works... :)
I didn't need to do any modifications to phpBB code.

Only problem what I'm having now, is the logout function.
eZ doesn't support own logouthandler as they support the login, so I think I have only two possibilities:
1) Change eZ's own logout file
2) Make an script that runs in every once in a while to check if the user that is logged in the forums is still logged in eZ.

But before I publish it, I will clean it and add some new functionality to it.

Jerry

Jerry,
How did you go with this modification?
We have an existing phpBB board that we need to integrate with a CMS.
eZ publish looks like the best option available if this mod works.
Cheers
Matt

I second that!

Hows the script coming Jerry

Did you release it to the community?
If so - where can I find it?

Cheers

Tim

Did anything ever happen to this idea of an integrator module?

Does anyone have any experience of a working integration of third party bulletin board software? Or does anyone have any decent templates for the forum system that make it into a useable system - there's so much missing from the basic templates shipped with eZ.

If anyone can point me in the right way, I'd be mighty pleased. The lack of this sort of functionality out of the box is a real issue with ezPublish deployment for me.

Thanks,
Simon

<b>Seriously</b>! (Dramatic Pause)

I've been wondering for the past hour as I compose my little reply, just what wouldn't I do to convince Jerry Jalava (guy in this thread) who taunts an eZ publish source code implementation of a phpBB forum authentication bridge, to <b>return</b> to ez.no and <b>post</b> the code he has been using as a contribution / hack.

I've been hounded by more people who ask for this functionality. At some point someone is going to get serious street cred just for <b>posting</b> whatever they have on the subject so the rest of us can take it to the next level.

Please, Please? Come back!
Inquiring minds <b>really</b>, want to know ....

I just tried to email him at the address available from the first google search result - but that address is now expired; he's evidently graduated.

Perhaps an <b>eZ moderator</b> can drop him an email? He's contributed a fair few tutorials and other bits to eZ over the past - you must have an address for him somewhere!
