Hello everyone,
I am new to ezp, and I have three questions about it:
1: does ezp has enterprice and e-government solutions like those of reddot at www.reddot.com???

2: I have installed ez and it was slow on my machine.... Of course I know there is a fix for this as I see in many threads in this forum; but what I don't know is why there is no document or installation note that tells the new user in a step by step why how to make his installation faster and more optimom??

3: has anybody tried to make some specialized cms using eZ??, I mean like f.e. a library cms....

4: during the history or eZ, was it easy for users to upgrade their sites when a new version of eZ was released??

best regards

IMO it`s hard to compare close systems like reddot to open source systems like eZ publish. Both have some advantages and disadvantages ...

Ad.1

Look at eZ publish references http://www.ez.no/ez_publish/references
You can find there many different websites build with eZ publish CMS

Ad.3

You can read more about eZ publish here http://www.ez.no/ez_publish/info

Thanks Lukasz...

About #1..
you can forget about comparison between the two systems; what I want to know is whether or not eZ has solutions in the same area like reddot, without pointing to which is better between the two.

about #3..
maybe I need to explain more: I am thinking of building some university framework, and the outcome will be a product which any university can adjust and customize to fit its needs.
is eZ is the best environment to start? shall I open a new thread for this point?

hope I find answers to #2 and #4....

You may also consider Apache Cocoon and Midgard CMF.

My point was that other CMF/CMS solutions may work better as university framework, because of the software license.

if we forget about license issues, will you keep saying other framwroks are better than eZ publish; if yes can you please explain a little bit.

Thanks to all guys here, I really appreciate all of you and looking forward to more answers about the other points too

Well Cocoon is a better CMF solution for newspapers, magazines and other large sites(http://www.salon.com/ http://www.vnunet.com/ http://cde.berkeley.edu/ ). Ez Publish works better on smaller sites.

Hello everybody again,

So guys, do everybody here agree that cocoon is a better CMF than eZ for building newspapers and magazines and larger sites.

if so, then I will be so confuced,
Because, I used to read in this forum when comparing between eZ and mambo or nuke, that while mambo or nuke is ideal for small and mediom websites, eZ is the best for larger and enterprice upplications and websites. And now I hear that cocoon is better than eZ for newspapers and magazines!!!
please, somebody explain more...

Best regards to all.

And one more thing, Cocoon has a lager and more active community............. but EZ is a lot easier.

You may also consider using a high-end enterprise content management system like "EMC Documentum", but that can be very expensive unless you decide to download it using Emule!

I will really appriciate it if I recieved a letter from you.

I know you may want the discussion to be on the forum for pubic benefits, but I promise I will summarize whatever I see worth publishing.
