I thoguht about settin up an experimental site mainly for news publishing, a kind of online newspaper. Not a blog, but I would like to give the readers opportunity to comment articles, perhaps grade them. Also, it would be nice to have the option to allow some readers to become contributors, i.e let some of them have opportunity to write articles.

I have done som research in the Open Source environment and it seemes as I hva e two options: eZ and Xoops. Xoops are, as far as I can see, a lot more easy to implement, but I really think that eZ must be much more secure and I have seen a lot of news publishing sites powered by eZ. The disadvantage is that this system is a bit more complicated. Also, as far as I know, it's difficult to implement other functions outside from eZ core, for example a system for ads etc.

What would you experienced users recommend for me? Which system? And which version?? Before 3.9??
I am not a novice, but at the same time not an expert.

Hi,

If this is simply for publishing, have a look at spip http;//www.spip.net That's less powerful but easier than ez.

Otherwise, they are extensions, for instance for phpads and an article rating system for ez.
