chat module for eZp 3

we will be working on a chat module porting for eZp 3!
is there any work from the eZp crew already done in this direction?
any suggestions?
which chat package to port?
what about irc instead?

I don't think it is a good idea to include a ez modul (php) for chatting. That modul will definitly kill your server. You will need to find a way to exclude most of the moduls ez uses. Maybe a way over flash 6 and SOAP would be a nive way to do that.
