I believe you can simply restart the setup wizard and do an in-place upgrade. By adding a setting to your settings/siteaccess/(name)/site.ini.append.php which will restart the site in setup mode. # Simply Add this value to enable the setup wizard.
# Set to true if you want the setup system to be activated
CheckValidity=true
Once you have done this I belive you can simply hit the site as normal to update your site existing code / database without over writing your existing information. I belive it is Step 7: Site details which will give you the option (not shown on the screenshot below) that will prompt you how to deal with the existing database information. http://ez.no/ez_publish/guided_tours/setup_wizard_guide/step_7_site_details You might want to double check this to make sure, and always backup your code and database before doing things your not familiar with ... Sadly I do not know of a simple way of doing this with just sql and source code, ( I too wish for the alternative to the setup ) sadly I think this is the only way.
