Hi all,

I described my problem in a previous thread, and after many hours of verification, I am now quite sure that this is a problem with the beta1 distribution:

After a setup-wizard driven installation, there is no "Sub-Items" window in the root contents folder, and hence the UI does not allow creation of new objects within it (although there may be other ways, like directly entering a URL).

I have installed the alpha and beta1 on Windows and Linux, both with different layout presets and active modules. The result always led to the same difference in the admin interface: the alpha version does show the "sub-items" window, while the beta1 does not.

To visualize, you can here find Screenshots of the Alpha and the Beta backend after installation:

Exactly how did you install (which package, database etc.)? I can't reproduce this problem on my computer at all.

Hi Frederik,

I used the following for Linux and Windows respectively:

http://ez.no/content/download/71041/233492/file/ezpublish-3.5.0beta1.tar.bz2
http://ez.no/content/download/71040/233489/file/ezpublish-3.5.0beta1.tar.gz

MySQL was version 4.0.21 on both OSes, Apache was 1.3.32, PHP 4.3.9

The problem does not occur if I:

- install alpha1 using the setup wizard
- untar beta1
- copy settings/override/* , settings/siteaccess/* from alpha1 to beta1
- copy appropriate design directories from alpha1 to beta1
- run update/database/mysql/3.5/unstable/dbupdate-3.5.0alpha1-to-3.5.0beta1.sql
- access the beta1 installation
- clear the cache

Everything is ok after clearing the cache.

When installing beta1 exactly what options do you choose during the installation process?

I tried once with "Plain" and no additional modules, and once with "Corporate" and all modules selected.

Image-System was GD2
Mail delivery was an SMTP server on the Windows installation and sendmail on Linux (both known to work)
Database was a local TCP connection (no socket) with the root account and an empty password for both OSes, the DB was named ez_test.

Cheers,
Ben

what was the latest with this issue?

I have reproduced this in 3.5.0 full version. This happened when I upgraded a v3.4.1 site to v3.5.0 using the suggestions for the db upgrades.
