[Rel. 3.1] Access to manual

../index.php/sdk/ gives access to sdk page. Clicking on manual tab does not work on this page.

../index.php/manual/ used to work in previous releases but some patch or something had to be applied.

I would have hoped all these to be fixed in 3.1.

Installation of 3.1 on windows was without any problem or hickup. Excellent. Even path to ImageMagick could be found during checkup.

... How about to go with the manual thing? Apply patch as previously? Bug in SDK page is noy solved by this...

Thank you.

You are an idiot and a fool don't you understand we are too busy replying to such posts...

Suppose you installed local first so you don't mess up your site.
Manual: ..http://localhost/ezpublish/index.php/admin/manual/
Click on the tab for SDK as it bringa you to
SDK: ... http://localhost/ezpublish/index.php/admin/sdk/
Works fine right?

Now get lost!

Ok, ok, I overlooked something...

Mind you if I ask another question?

I would appreciate any confirmation that this =does= works at other installations so that I can try to fix it on my own.

So I clicked on SDK. I wanted to go back to manual to check something. Unfortunately it brings me to http://localhost/manual/ ... i have no such system so that led me to my cute 404.

I like API references, so I clicked on inen right away. No go.

Can someone confirm these features please?

Thanks

Links like: http://localhost/manual/ and http://localhost/sdk should work fine. Except in certain cases.

With the 3.1 release you will see in the siteaccess directory three different sites: user, demo and admin. User and demo sites have the sdk switched off by default - look in the site settings file. but you mention the manual... urm, not sure ;) however, if you are using the admin site then all should work as expected though you may need to log in to reach it.

For api references you need to run a program called 'doxygen' from the ez3 root directory referencing a doxygen file ez have provided. if you have doxygen installed (freely avialable if you goggle) just run:

doxygen doc/doxygen/Doxyfile

And reference html will be generated for the php files.

From linux this is easy stuff :)

Thanks for your reply.

I did not create a virtualhost for ezpublish, it must have something to do with that, I suppose. Is could try it, it will probably complicate things with my service provider. It works fine if I go through index.php/admin/sdk/.

About the Doxygen, I did not know. Is that documented somewhere? I'll download the stuff and see what happens.

I lost so much time during the release of 3.0... When I look at what's coming in from people who are obviously much further and experienced in setting up and configuring ezpublish than I am, it makes me wonder if I shouldn't wait for 3.2 or 3.1.1 whatever.

I do have some leads again. Thanks a million.

Jim.

jim,

most of the people here who know a little have been through the same initial pain with ez 3.0. more so since there was little documentation at the start and thanks to people like karsten with his wiki site and the ez team on the forums there is more and more people gaining that knowledge and spreading it through the contributed docs.

but it is getting much easier. new documentation is on its way that will explain the whole ez process in a better way, and forums are going to improve. 3.2 will have some big new features like import/export of classes and bug fixes for existing problems but the fundamentals wont change, so if you want to use ez now is the best time to try it out, then 3.2 wont seem like much of a change. For example, i haven't changed my apache conf files since i first started with the beta versions of ez 3.0. Lots of other things haven't changed.

as for finding things out just keep asking on the forums. ive had plenty of questions left unanswered, so i asked them again :) one of the big problems, that is about to be fixed, is the lack of notification for forum messages. but 3.1 now includes this and i believe the forums are being retro-fitted with this ability. without this it is quite hard to keep track of who is replying to what.

For doxygen, look at:

http://ez.no/developer/ez_publish_3/documentation/ez_publish_3/howtos/using_doxygen_to_create_api_documentation

All in all the ez is visibly improving week by week.

Hope this helps.
