What PHP development tools do you recommend?

I want to be able to develop my site locally and would like to use a professional set of tools to aid in memory usage issues, variable tracking, stepping through the code when needed to track down problems as well as maintain a versioning system of the base code as I develop it. Do you have any recommended applications and debuggers etc. I assume I would have to activate the debug features of php etc to do so. Also, what modules will you be releasing when you have shipped version 3? Are you reinstating the old set of tools from version 2? Your help would be appreciated. Thanks Regards Stuart

Haven't tried it yet. I was actually thinking of a php development framework that can display the XHTML code that ez publish uses in it's templates. I have seen Zend and NuSphere but was wondering what the team at EZ uses for it's development. Any help would be appreciated. Regards Stuart.
