Arranging or ranking objects...

Is there a way of arranging or ranking folders, articles, products, etc. aside from doing alphabetically or the sequence they were created? Can we introduce a ranking field for objects?

Yes,

Use absolute positioning in the admin interface: here you can determine the sort order. Make sure the templates use the $node.sort_array or none to pick up the default sort order defined in the admin inetrface.
