I have finally managed to make some progress with my homepage but what I need help on now is to know which <b>tables</b> in tha database contain information such as news <i>articles</i>, <i>forum posts</i> etc. I wish to use my own php code to manually retrieve this information - not through eZPublish but using separate php scripts.

ezcontentobject_attribute contains all data.
