ez.no Search Improvements for the Forums

A couple of improvements that I would like to see for the search capabilities of this site:

1. The ability to limit a search to all of the forums of a specific release number. I.e., when I search I don't want to see results in the forums for eZ publish 2.x as it doesn't apply to what I am working on. I would be willing to bet that users of 2.x feel the same about the 3.x forums.

2. The ability to search on user names. At this point it is rather complicated keeping track of every thread I have posted or commented on. Until we get notifications set up we have to bookmark every thread, or try to remember all of them. If I could search for all posts by a specific user I would be able to follow the various threads throughout the forums.

I agree on the above suggestions. In addition I would also like to see these features in the forum:

1. 'Next' and 'Previous' links on the bottom of a discussion. This would make it easier to browse through messages.

2. A link to the frontpage of the topic. Not only to the forum overview.

3. The possibilty to view a list of 'unreplied' messages inside a topic. This would make it easier to make sure that all posted messages do get an answer.

I'd find all of these things useful too.

The first thing that was mentioned, the ability to find things only for a specific eZPublish version, is I think a forum organization problem. Maybe the forums could be organized by version number, like the vBulletin forums at vbulletin.com are (say), the ability added to easily choose which forums to search through.

Actually the forums are already organized by major release number - 3.x and 2.2 have separate forum areas. So I think we merely need the search engine to be tweaked.

I'm glad to hear that others feel the same.
