Hello I think most people would agree to say ez is more oriented "Web CMS" than Web Portal. We know that integration of external applications inside ez is not well supported out of the box. Well we do have SOAP webservice client capabilities but that is all I can think about to integrate external web applications.
In particular, the following typical portal features are not supported (sometimes for good or even obvious reason):
- Java Portlet support: (I guess it is not possible because we are in PHP World - is that really true ?)
- Web clipping: I think this could be implemented in PHP maybe as an extension
- WSRP (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WSRP): WSRP support would allow eZ to integrate WSRP exposed portlet from other big vendor. It could also become the well defined way to integrate legacy or in house applications inside an ez "portal". Developpers would only have to implement a WSRP compliant WS on top of the application to be integrated. Does eZ systems have some plans toward portal features in general and those in particular ?
