In the year 2000, the UOC (“Universitat Oberta de Catalunya”, a world pioneer of virtual university) founded the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3) as its research institute. The research developed within the framework of the IN3 focuses, generically, on interdisciplinary analysis of the Information Society. More specifically, the main areas for attention are e-learning, new technologies and the education system, e-governance, the new economy, law and ICT, technology and health, digital culture, new communication media, internet and daily life, IT and network technologies, and information management. Despite most of the projects developed belonging to the area of basic research, the IN3 does also carry out applied research and innovation projects.
You will find in this website investigation projects, research groups, research publications and all the information published by the IN3.
The website uses a custom module to retrieve, extract and store each night an important part of the site. All the information on projects, researchers, publications, research groups and research programs is maintained in a specific internal application and is available to other external application by webservices (soap) in XML format.
This information is retrieved and dumped into the ezpublish database and then published in the form of eZ publish content objects. This way the site is always automatically synchronized against this internal application used by IN3.
The site handles content in Catalan, English and Spanish languages.
