SiteURL in SiteSettings?

Hi There!

I'm still having troubles getting my dummy site up and running as described in the thread:

http://www.ez.no/community/forum/developer/making_a_dummy

After a hundreth look or something at my site.ini.append files for "user" and "admin" I noticed that the SitURL in SiteSettings was different in those two files.

in the "user" file it was "index.php"

while in the "admin" file it was "lms/index.php"

How does the SiteURL setting work? From which directory does it look for the values in this setting?

best regards

Hi Trond (and "takk for sist"),

Which site.ini.append.php file is used, depends on which siteaccess setting you're accessing. What's the URL you're using?

Hi Eirik (og "takk i like måte" :-)

The URL I'm trying to use is ekurs.atlantia.no, but that only gives me a blank page. It should have been the same as www.kompetanseportalen.no.

Here's my SiteSettings and my SiteAccessSettings from site.ini.append.php in ekurs/settings/override:

[SiteSettings]
DefaultAccess=kompetanseportalen
SiteList[]=plain
SiteList[]=kompetanseportalen

[SiteAccessSettings]
CheckValidity=false
MatchOrder=host
HostMatchType=map
HostMatchMapItems[]=ekurs.atlantia.no;kompetanseportalen
HostMatchMapItems[]=admin.atlantia.no;kompetanseportalen_admin
AvailableSiteAccessList[]=kompetanseportalen
AvailableSiteAccessList[]=kompetanseportalen_admin

when I use admin.atlantia.no everything works fine. I get the admin interface with all my expected objects. It's the ekurs.atlantia.no element that is giving me trouble.

I have now tried to set the SiteURL in /ekurs/settings/siteaccess/kompetanseportalen/site.ini.append to
"http://ekurs.atlantia.no" to no avail. Nor did it help/change anything to set the SiteURL in /ekurs/settings/siteaccess/kompetanseportalen_admin/site.ini.append to "http://admin.atlantia.no"

So if anyone has any idea why this doesn't work, please help. And to repeat my Original Question. What does the SiteURL setting actually <b>do</b>?

best regards
trondåge

PS! For a full understanding, please read the thread mentioned in the first message DS!

Hi Trond,

AFAIK, the SiteURL setting is used to build complete URLs in various parts of eZP like emails. I don't think it's used a whole lot, if at all, to build URLs on the site.

Which SiteURL that will be used will of course depend on which siteaccess you're accessing, and how the SiteURL is defined in that siteaccess. If none exists for the specific siteaccess, the SiteURL in settings/override/site.ini.append.php will be used. And, of course, if that doesn't exist either, the default in settings/site.ini.php will be used.

However, it seems to me that you are having trouble accessing the correct siteaccess, and not a problem related to the SiteURL setting, or perhaps I'm missing something?

Anyways, have you tried setting MatchOrder to "host;uri" and then trying the URL http://www.atlantia.no/index.php/kompetanseportalen to access the kompetanseportalen siteaccess? If that doesn't work either, there might be something wrong in your settings/siteaccess/kompetanseportalen/site.ini.append.php file.

BTW, what did you mean by "For a full understanding"?

Hi Eirik and thanks.

Good Idea to use both host and uri to check if that fails as well, will try that.

Hmm.. and what did I mean by "A full understanding".... tough one that. :-)

I probably thought a bit too much of myself implying that my post in that thread was clarifying. Reading it again it struck me that I've should have used "for more confusion please read the thread...." ;-)

Seriously, what I meant was that I've tried at my best ability to explain my process in creating a dummy site in an earlier thread, and that I am too lazy to explain it again in another thread, that is, <b>this</b> thread.

Hi Trond,

Now, I see. When I was viewing your post earlier, all that was visible was "PS! For a full understanding" (in other words, ", please read the thread mentioned in the first message DS! " was missing). No wonder I didn't understand what you were talking about.
