General description of project is below. Please contact me for information at sabawazir@gmail.com Regards, sbawazir Objective: to develop a web site that will promote a specific Region by providing information on the region's activities in the fields of tourism, entertainment & shopping, business & investment, education (international schools, universities, training, seminars, ..), etc. An important element of the system will be an Event Calendar that will link to pages describing such events. Visitors may join to receive event alerts and other related email messages. In a later stage, SMS messages shall be considered. RSS news feed will be provided by the site. The main theme of the site is to project the Region in a very attractive & professional manner. The site shall attractively provide services to acquire & keep users by handsomely giving them information in various smart ways on activities of their interest in the Region according to user profiles.
General Requirements & Guidelines:
1. LMAP platform, with CMS/DB and robust user subscription facilities
2. Utilize and integrate as many open source (OS) components as possible. Integration of such components shall be in a way that will allow for future upgrade of OS components.
3. Use industry standards for development and documentation of the system. The system has to be highly maintainable & scalable. The system will be interfaced with other applications in the near future; therefore APIs shall be specific and documented.
4. Use SMARTY or similar template engine to separate application from presentation.
5. User interface language shall be selectable Arabic or English. Arabic translation will be provided.
6. The system shall be highly automated with all the bells and whistles now offered with similar community sites. We will work closely with you to refine specs and will welcome your suggestions and ideas. It will be very helpful to jointly identify a couple of sites that will be used as an overall model. We will also consider a phased approach to the development and deployment. This is a project in a series of e-com & portal projects that will use similar techniques and will be generally linked together. We will require you to sign a NDA at the commencement and a software ownership certificate at the conclusion of each project. Preference will be given to providers with experience in integrating OS products, and those with available packages/components. Your proposal has to be genuine to our needs.
