keep user password during registration

Hi there

I hava a user registration form where some fields are required. When I try to register and leave some required fields empty, the form is displayed again and I get the validation errors. This works fine.
The problem is that if the validation fails for some reason the fields for user password and password confirmation are always emptied again so I have to type them in although originally maybe only the first name was missing.
Is there any way to keep the provided password and confirmation so I can use it as default value for the form again? I know that once the registration is successful only the md5 of the password is stored but I only want to keep the passwords that are provided in the current draftas long as the draft is still edited.

I have tried to the attribute 'original_password' of the ezuser object but this is set to false.
