Forums / General / Subtree notifications :"site alert" instead of an e-mail

Hi,
I am currently working on subtree notifications for a website. The built-in notification system works perfectly fine : an e-mail is sent when an article is added etc.. The problem is that i don't want users being notified by an email, but through a specific page of the website called "my notifications". For example, when an article is added on a folder, i want the following link : "The article XXX has been added ..." to be added on "my notifications" page for the users who subscribed. Is there a simple way to do that or do i have to modify the php notifications-related files ?
Thanks,
David

Have you seen this function?
https://ez.no/content/new
It is built in, just go to /content/new on your site. I am not sure about settings or parameters of it, but it might give you a good start.

This content/new function is cool and what i need exactly.
Does anyone know how to limit it i.e. to a specific node or something? I.e to show only new articles from a specific folder?

Thanks Mark, i've never heard of this functionality before and it's very useful ! Now i have the same problem as Lukasz, i must only display new content that belong to the user's subscribed subtrees. As far as i know, the ('content','tree') fetch only one subtree, and the ('content','search'), although it allows multiple subtree fetch, needs a text input.
So do you know what the best solution is? Thank you all,
