I have read the other topics regarding this process and though I have applied the patch I am still getting the same problem where the database would not accept the connection. I am trying to connect via an account I set-up myself and not via root for security purposes. However, the settings for root are not accepted either. I can access MySQL directly with the accounts I set-up so I can not see why the connections are being rejected. Here are the details:
Type: MYSQL
Servername: localhost
Username: moss
Password: knowledge Socket: I am using MySQL: 4.0.16 and eZ publish: 3.2-3 running on Linux. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks RB

If I understand your post correctly (It's a little unclear as to what exactly you're trying to do, but I assume your running the setup wizard or something) then you can probably fix it by setting up site.ini by hand. You want an entry something like:
[DatabaseSettings]
DatabaseImplementation=ezmysql
Server=localhost
Database=[DATABASENAME] (- e.g. 'news')
User=moss Password=knowledge Hope that helped, if not elaborate more on your problem. ~James~

I apologise for not being more concise earlier. I am trying to run the setup wizard but I can not go further than the Database Initialization step. I have modified the site.ini file by hand but it does not appear to resolve the problem I am experiencing. The info I added was:
DatabaseImplementation=ezmysql
Server=localhost
User=moss
Password=knowledge Database=ezptest Again, I want to setup access via a user account I setup and do not wish to set access via root for security purposes. Is there anything else that can be done? This is the only problem I have with eZ publish. Thanks for the response RB

Ok, I'd guess there must be something wrong with your database setup. I'd go back and check, see which database I inserted into mysql and that my database name was correct. Also mysql isn't using any funny (other than 3306) ports is it? Oh one other thing, I just wanted to check: you are aware that your mysql root and your system root are different things right? i.e. you can have a different password for each? I suppose having a different username from root makes it more difficult to guess, which is probably what you're getting at. ~James~

I'm stuck in the database initialization step too, I can't go forward, I don't get any error, only the same page asking for the database access information. It's not that the user or password are incorrect, if I put a wrong user or password I get the right error message (The database would not accept the connection, please review your settings and try again.), so that means that the connection is accepted, but it doesn't show me the next step. I've tried with different users, root included, no luck. MySql is working perfectly with the rest of almost 1000 databases/users that are on the server. Anyone has a clue about how to solve this question? Thanks.

Ok, I figured out now that in fact, when submitting the database information, I don't get any page as a response: Mozilla keeps showing the same page (I was trying it with Mozilla first) and Explorer returns its default error page. Anyway, at the end I've decided to make a manual installation, not succsessful either, but I'm going to comment it in another post. Below I paste what I get just starting the installation (sorry for quotting such a bunch of text). I hope this information helps the developers to fix the setup wizard.
