ez 3.5 on Globat - finetune errors

Hi, all. I'm trying to install ez 3.5 on Globat (http://www.globat.com/) server. I've first tried the finetune and it showed that I need to modify php.ini file or add some lines to .htaccess.

Since my server is virtual and does not have access to php.ini, I am now trying to modify .htaccess. However, everytime I edit, I get the 500 Internal server error and I can't go further.

It seems that I need to add:

php_value magic_quotes_gpc 0

# and

php_value register_globals 0

But adding them doesn't make it fine...

Would you pleaes share your experiences?

If you need a recommened hosting for eZ look here

When using PHP as an Apache module, you can also change the configuration
 settings using directives in Apache configuration files (e.g. httpd.conf) 
and .htaccess files.

If you have instaled PHP as CGI not a module so you can`t change php.ini value directly.

But it doesn't mean, ezpublish can't run on other servers. If there are so many regulations with this program it wouldn't make business. I've seen some people running ezpublish on other servers, but not mine so far.

If don't mind, would you please teach me how to edit .htaccess file as I haven't touched this before. Just let me know how to add those lines within the file. Thanks!

Do you have installed PHP as CGI or Apache module?

This is my server's information.

On the php information window, it says Server API is CGI.
Is this what you are asking for?

Yes, your Server API is CGI. I don`t recommend this hosting ... PHP as CGI is slower then mod_php. Choose one of eZ systems partners hosting and you will have warranty that everything will works fine ....

Ok, thanks for your advises. I won't change my server for a year, but it will help me choose the best server for my needs in the future.

Ask for help administrator if you have some problem with htaccess file and with eZ publish. From version 3.4 eZ publish works with PHP as CGI. So there is no problem should works fine.
