Ez and php5 on UBUNTU !

Hi ..

for testing I had downloaded ubuntu, and XAMMP apache2 server, the ezp installation at the last step die .. and give this msg :

Fatal error: A database transaction in eZ publish failed.

The current execution was stopped to prevent further problems.
You should contact the System Administrator of this site with the information on this page.
The current transaction ID is TRANSID-bdcfa0b7f61a4acecf85fc7c3b8bdbc5 and has been logged.
Please include the transaction ID and the current URL when contacting the system administrator.

but there is huge ASCII code top of it this msg !

the ez publish I had downloaded via svn stable version of php5 !

Any help please ?

The XAMPP comes with Apache 2, which is multi thread server. Only know that the ez Publish have problems with it.

If any one has sorted out how to work with Apache 2 and php 5 will be nice to know

What exactly do you mean with "but there is huge ASCII code top of it this msg"? If it looks like the issue http://issues.ez.no/8969, can you check the PHP configuration then? It occured on my installations when PHP is compiled with --enable-zend-multibyte and the mbstring extension is enabled. A temporary workaround is disabling the mbstring extension.
