Hi

Maybe I missed somewhere the note, but when I want to upgrade from ezPublish 3.6.10 to 4 Alpha2, is it necessary to have PHP4 installed?
Or is it possible to upgrade 3.6.x on a PHP5 installation to Alpha2?

Yes, I know that PHP 5.1.x is needed for ezPublish 4.x alpha2.
Surprise, but my problem is, that the webhoster had upgraded PHP to 5.1.6 and now I have to upgrade ezPublish.

I researched the forum, but didn't found an answer. And in this topic here, they are talking also from upgrading php step by step

Thanks in advance

Hi I would do the upgrade on my local pc in this case.

Get the DB from your server.

and upgrade from 3.6 to 3.10 under php4. After that you upload the db back to the server and use eZ4. let me know how it worked.

Hi

It should work in theory to upgrade from 3.6 to 4.0a using PHP5 versions of the upgrade scripts. However, this has not been tested properly as far as I know, so you might run into some problems. If you attempt to do so, make sure to backup your data first.

At first thanks to Kåre and Björn for the answer.

So there is no kind of a pre-check of the PHP Version in the upgrade scripts?

The problem is, that I don't have any php/MySQL installation locally. Of course, I could download a package and install. But also I'm one of the Windwos user and I guess, I would have more trouble with setup php/MySQL locally instead of upgrading to Version 4 Alpha2 on php5.

I'm sure you will hear from me in the next days ;)
