3.4.2: Image Preview in Media Tab is broken

Hi, with my 3.4.2 installation, i cannot see the preview images ("Thumbnails") of my images in the media tab anymore.
Instead, i see a nice little "Foto Camera" icon (from /share/icons/crystal/32x32/mimetypes/image.png) .
Is this intended behaviour? What good is the media tab then ? ;)

Okay, if this is intedend, how do i bring the old 3.3 behaviour back?
