The way of how ez set the title (roughly the path) works fine for most of the pages.
However, for the homepage, I'd like to have something more specific. Any idea on how to set the title of a page ?

Path in <title> is generated in page_head.tpl. You can override this file and add some logic with {if}
{if eq( $module_result.node_id, HOME_ID )} special title {else} standard title_path {/if}
Just copy standard page_head.tpl into design/(your_design)/templates/ and add changes. Remeber to clear the cache.
