Help with spesial character in txt field.

The problem is the header, putted in the title field. If he just write - (not this, but the long one). It's shows up nicely, but http://validator.w3.org/ gives me: Line 289, column 9: non SGML character number 150 <h3>?? Heading</h3> If I try to substitute his - with one off this: &endash; &151; – ez will not format them and they are written literally. Any suggestions.
