Hi, I need to know if is it possible to upgrade a very old version (2.2.x) to the last one ? I think it is, but i don't know how... should i upgrade it to 3.0.x and etc. to 4.2.x. or is it possible to save the database and data (media & content) directly to the last one ? Thx for help.

Hi, I'm Giuseppe from Italy. I have the same problem ( Ez publish 2.2.9 to 4.3). But the second link you posted doesn't work at this time (after ez.no new version has come out). Any other idea? I only search instructions and downloads (I don't find any installer for the 2.9-7 version all over the web) to migrate to 2.9-7, then I'll use instructions on ez.no. I only need to migrate data to ez 4.3. I'll make new all web layouts. If you can help me, I'll appreciate!!! Good afternoon. Giuseppe Alghero (Italy)

Hello Giuseppe, Welcome to the eZ Community. The link you mention has been moved, here is an updated and tested link, http://auth.ez.no/developer/contribs/import_export/import_script_for_data_import_from_2_2_to_3_x Though I must warn you. It is really more efficient use of time to create a new site from scratch than to waste time trying to upgrade (as it results in an incomplete upgrade site). Cheers, Heath

Hello - I'm the IT staffer at Toxics Use Reduction Institute at UMass-Lowell, which provides support to companies to reach compliance with Massachusetts' 20-year-old Toxics Use Reduction Act, and also to communities, to help find innovative ways to reduce toxic chemical use at the source. I'm responsible for http://www.turi.org, an EZ 3.8.6 site that's several years old, previously hosted until mid-2009 by an external consulting company, which we now host ourselves, running on a Linux server distribution based on Redhat EL4 / CentOS 4. There have been a very small number of custom modifications to EZ 3.8.6 which I've removed. I'm now working on the upgrade process to move this to EZ Publish 4.4, with the help of a part-time student assistant, and of course the project is extremely urgent. We have a clone of our production server and plan to maintain current content by nightly synchronization of MySQL and filesystem content, while (also nightly) incrementally stepping through the documented upgrades. (I'm aware I will have to pass through revision changes in both PHP and MySQL in the process; we hope to end up with a CentOS 5 based system.) In an ideal world, this would result in a site with identical content that's running EZ 4.4 instead of EZ 3.8.6, at which point I can cut over to the new version, and tell content editors they can use the new features. Any comments so far? Even if this does go smoothly, there may be pieces of the old site damaged in the process, and I want to be aware of these immediately, on each step. I'm looking for an alternative to manual examination of the two versions of the site as the upgrade proceeds -- which would certainly be the most time-consuming part of the process. I would like to have at least a partial semi-automatic tester, which can be incorporated in the nightly scripts, to perform non-interactive comparison of the two. I really need a website "diff" that can examine externally visible pages on the two servers and identify differences (modulo server name / address, date/time, etc.). Is there such a tool in existence? We are looking at the "webcheck" crawler (http://arthurdejong.org/webcheck) which produces text logs, as a possible starting point. Any other comments and suggestions would be welcome -- thanks for your attention.
