Hi, I have spent days on this and getting really frustrated with the problem. I have successfully installed ezpublish and activated webdav on the server and able to access webdav using winxp and mac os x successfully. However I am having problems access webdav using windows 7 Home Premium. I use the 'Add Network Location' wizard in Windows 7 to add web folder.I get to a point where it asks me for user name and password but when submitted it says 'The folder you entered does not appear to be valid. Please choose another.' Has someone successfully been able to connect to webdav from windows 7? EZ Publish 4.3 is installed on Linux/Apache 2 with SLL activated (port 443). I'm really hoping someone can point me in the right direction as I have run out of ideas.

Hy Kunal,
I have had problems with webdav and windows/macOs WebdavClients myself. Using a shell-client (cli) on linux like cadaver works flawlessly, so i/we decided to replace the shipped and build-in webdav-features in windows with a more stable solution and purchased 3rd party software to deal with it.
The affected version i had problems and i've tested so far where
- windows XP home+pro up to SP3
- windows Vista
- windows 7 (whatever version) - GNU/Linux, Nautilus Webdav-Client
The only that reliable works was the Gnu/Linux command-line-interface "cadaver". So to answer your question, no i have'nt got webdav on windows7 to work, neither on any windows below windows 7. But it is a windows issue, as other clients seem to work proberly. chris PS: The most problems occur when using a windows which is either in a Windows-Domain or not, or if you are a local user or a network user, or if you are working with an fully privileged account ot not, ... and so on. So perhaps this is a similar issue. But i stopped months ago searching for a solution ...

Hey Chris, Thanks for sharing your experience. I have managed to get it to work on Mac OS X 10.4.11 (ez-publish server), Windows XP Pro and Windows 2000. Obviously Window 7 has a problem. I haven't tried 3rd party software on windows 7 so I'll have to give that a go. But in any case I need it to work on windows 7. Can you recommend a good 3rd party client that work well with all Windows platforms (2K, XP, Vista and Win7)? I have tried using WebDrive Client (£39.94 per year) and that seemed to work well with WinXP. I don't agree with yearly charge, which includes 1 year's free updates. I would still be interested in anyone else's experience with WebDav Setup and possibly an example of specification they used for their WebDav Solution to serve Windows users. Kunal

Just a few minutes ago, while fixing a webdav / clustering issue, I've ended up using BitKinex (http://www.bitkinex.com/download, free) as a webdav client, and it worked just fine. The default windows ones didn't, but as far as I could lookup, it is because Windows 7 doesn't support basic authentication (the one we use) but only digest.

Hy, at the moment i can't give you any hints to the 3rd-party-webdav applications, as this was done by my boss and he was choosing this software by himself (in coordination with a customer). I just know that they are using dedicated webdav-software for this task. But i think googling for webdav should bring a lot tools - also freeware / opensource, mostly based on java. So no need to buy something.
For the general Information: Webdav as server as implemented in ezPublish is based on ezcomponents since eZPublish 4.1 i think. ezcomponents stuck with the webdav RFC closely, so this whole "problem" is not a server-side (ezpublish) but a client side (webdav tools). chris edit: so to speak, implementing the webdav RFC seems complicated for many developers, even MS.

I have no copy of windows 7 to test, but the story of dav clients within windows is a sad joke. In fact windows ships 2 versions of a dav client, which can be both installed at the same time on a pc, depending on other installed sw (office, sharepoint, ...), and both a big set of different bugs. Oh, and they get activated kinda randomly depending on the url in use... One site that has a lot of information about the different versions and known bugs: greenbytes http://greenbytes.de/tech/webdav/webfolder-client-list.html http://greenbytes.de/tech/webdav/webdav-redirector-list.html Yor bug might be the "no-basic-auth" one as stated by Bertrand - that one could be fixed by editing the registry...

Thanks for the links and info both of you. As i read the line "can only do basic-auth" ... i immediatly thought of a registry-setting somewhere ;-)

Thanks for all you inputs. This is was only my second post/question on the forum and glad to see there are people around with similar problems. Give me confidence in the product. I think I will try to amend the registry and see how that goes. I'll update the post with the outcome. Kunal

What exactly are you doing when try to edit the registry? I can only my friend recommended some resources from Firebrand Training with regards to these kinds of technical queries. Try Firebrand's Sharepoint course for some details and information. Update me on what you find with the registry issue.

Isn't a full-fledged course on MS Sharepoint a bit overkill when - teh webdav server in question is eZ Publish, not Sharepoint - only the webdav client is what needs tweaking/fixing in this case?
