Hi,

I'm a newbie to try eZ Publish... and the first thing is following the step by step in some articles...

Installation is really easy, I did not get any troubles here.

But the problem when I try this article: http://ez.no/developer/articles/how_to_configure_an_ez_publish_site/url_modifications to modify the URL

The first try, I insert in /settings/siteaccess/site/site.ini.append.php
The second try: /settings/override/site.ini.append.php
The last try: /settings/site.ini

ForceVirtualHost=true
RemoveSiteAccessIfDefaultAccess=enabled

Then I restart httpd service. But the change does not effect.

My test system:
- Linux CENTOS 5.2: apache 2.2.8, mysql 5.x, php 5.2.6
- eZ Publish 4.0.1
- apache with mod_rewrite...

Is there any change in the new version of eZ Publish?

Please help me! Thanks so much!

Oh, after modify and clear cache ini I see that mod_rewrite works ok.

But I got the error 403

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /company/news/lyon_une_metropole_de_taille_europeenne on this server.

Might help to read the doc as well:
http://ez.no/doc/ez_publish/technical_manual/4_0/installation/virtual_host_setup
http://ez.no/doc/ez_publish/technical_manual/4_0/installation/virtual_host_setup/virtual_host_example

Since you have access to restart apache, its better to setup the rewrite rules in your httpd.conf settings to rule out the possebility that you have disabled .htaccess files (AllowOverride setting).

More about the setting information:

The last tried is:
- Put RemoveSiteAccessIfDefaultAccess=enabled in /settings/siteaccess/eng to remove language in URL.
- Put ForceVirtualHost=true in /settings/override/site.ini.append.php to remove index.php

But after that I can only browse the home page, and I see that the URL in articles in right format. But when access the detail link, I got the 403 (Forbidden) error.

And then I can not login to administration page and any pages but the home page.

Please help me!

Nop, btw you should cleanup while you still remember what changes you have done though.
Especially changes directly in the settings folder, as those will be overwritten when you update eZ Publish.
